The Sound of Music

Forget few and far between. The posts this past week were pretty much non-existent. The Sound of Music went very well, I think. A big thank you to those who came out to see the show!

I had such a good time. It was probably the most fun I've ever had doing a show. I've missed my Van Trapp kids today. The day after a run ends is always somewhat bittersweet. You're happy for a job well done, but there's a sense of loss. It's like waking up from a dream. The goal for which you've worked so hard is gone. Done. The moment vanished. Glimpses only in pictures. Quiet. No music, no lines. No applause. It's still, and it's healthy. It reminds me it's a job, something I do. Not something I am. I'm incredibly thankful for a husband who not only encourages me, but leads me, to do the things I love to do.

There have been some requests for pictures, so here ya go!

How fun. I really wish we would have been able to make it, but Jimmy was out of town on business.

The Small Person would have been in heaven, though. It looks like a very well done show.

And you really do look 16!

I really wanted to take Sydney to the show, but it was one of those bad work weeks for Chad. I didn't dare try to take my rambunctious little boy, and I waited to late to find a sitter. Next show, I'm taking Sydney for sure! It looks like you guys did a great job!! And the set and costumes look so beautiful. Please let us know when you're in another show!

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like a blast!

I remember working in the community theater in Brenham -- there was definitely a sort of sadness that always followed the end of a production. You grow to be like a family with the others, you've put so much time and energy into it, and then it's over so quickly.

And I agree with Kat -- if someone showed me these photos and said that all the actors playing the kids were under 18 years old, I honestly wouldn't know the difference.

Congrats. Wish I could have been there to see it. The SoM was my mom's favorite movie, so I saw it many times growing up, but never in the theater.

Bill, thanks for coming to the show! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

KD, didn't you guys go on vacation? Did you have a good time?

Kat, I never emailed you! I'm so sorry. I meant to, but our yahoo is being ridiculous, and that's where I have your email.... Tell your fam hello for me.

Susanne, will do!

C-Ham, the pictures surprised me a little, too. I thought, geez, I do look like a kid. I hope I look a little older in real life. Of course, I don't curl my hair in ringlets and I don't wear a sailor uniform, so that may help matters.

MB, thanks! The movie was one of my favorites growing up. And Annie. I think I had Annie memorized. Annie was the first musical I ever saw on stage. I think I was 5 or something. But I had never seen SOM on stage until this production. There's something about Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer that you just can't beat, no matter how good....

(please ... didn't you mean to say Von Trapp rather than Van Trapp?)

Sure, Cheryl. However it's spelled....

I wish y'all were there, too, but hey! Didn't you celebrate the big Anniversero Uno?

What about Seth's shirt? Pretty hunkalicious, huh?

You gotta have a little hair on your chest to pull that one off brother.

I am so jealous right now. I have no theater-related talents whatsoever, but if I did, that would be my DREAM role.
